Designed to be the best particle accelerator in the world, Sirius was installed with Mantova tubes

Mantova's partnership with the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) began in 2005, with the supply of polyamide/nylon tubes for cooling the electromagnets that guide the trajectory of the electrons inside the accelerator.

Recently, tubes were supplied for the Sirius installations, which is the newest Brazilian synchrotron light source, being the largest project in Brazilian science. Nylon 12 tubes, products that stand out for their high durability in different application conditions, are also used in industrial automation and in automotive components, such as air brake systems for trucks and trailers.

Sirius, located in Campinas, São Paulo, is CNPEM's new fourth-generation particle accelerator, being the largest and most complex scientific infrastructure ever built in the country and one of the most advanced synchrotron light sources in the world. This state-of-the-art laboratory allows the investigation of the composition and structure of matter in its most varied forms, opening new research perspectives in areas such as materials science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, environmental science, and many others.

The laboratory houses multi-user facilities, open to the Brazilian and international scientific community, allowing for frontier research to be carried out, contributing to the solution of major scientific and technological challenges, such as the development of medicines and treatments for diseases, new fertilizers, more resistant plant species and other technologies for agriculture, renewable energy sources, among many other applications, with the potential to generate major economic and social impacts.

Mantova, a 100% Brazilian company, is proud to participate in this great project, fostering the development of new technologies in the country, implementing, with excellence, its know-how in advanced polymers in scientific and technological environments.
